The Yorktown-class aircraft carrier is an American aircraft carrier.
Description[]
Although smaller in displacement than the Lexington-class, the Yorktown-class ships could carry and operate more aircraft than their predecessors. All three ships in the class participated extensively in the first month of the Pacific War, with Yorktown and Hornet sinking to enemy actions in June and October 1942 respectively. Enterprise, on the other hand, soldiered on and became the most decorated American ship in the war.
The aircraft carrier in BattleGroup42 has four quad Bofors 40mm guns near the ship's island, with four 5"/38 caliber guns and three Oerlikon 20mm cannons on each side of the ship. The naval air component in early Pacific theatre settings consists of F4F Wildcat, TBD Devastator and SBD Dauntless, which is changed to F6F Hellcat, F4U Corsair and TBF Avenger in the later stages. Two LCVP also spawn at the rear of the carrier.
All ships of the class make appearance in the mod, with USS Yorktown and USS Hornet in maps set before 1943, such as Battle of Midway and 4209-Bloody Ridge, and USS Enterprise also in some of the later maps like Iwo Jima.
