Staghound Mk III is a British armoured car.
The T17 Staghound is a well protected medium armoured car, built in the USA and designed for reconnaissance and liaison duty. Since the US Army already had such an armored car in service (the M8 Greyhound), the T17 wasn´t standardised for it. Instead the vehicle was delivered to the Allies, especially to the Commonwealth nations, were it became known as the Staghound. Originally armed with a 37mm gun like the M8, the Mk III is an up-gunned variant with the armaments and turret of the Crusader III tank, gaining respective firepower for an armoured car. The second position on the turret's open can designate targets for friendly artillery.
It participates in the Northwest European Theatre in 1945.
The Staghound has an anti-aircraft variant in the form of Staghound AA.
