The Soviet Union is one of the Allies of World War II.
Before World War II started, Soviet Union got involved in border conflicts with Japan. This ceased for the majority of the war until August 1945, when Soviet Union attacked Japanese occupied territories in agreement with other Allied nations.
In June 1941, Germany invaded the Soviet Union, pushing the borders deep within Soviet territory. The Soviets faced tremendous losses initially, but after regrouping its forces and resources, they slowly pushed back Germany and its allies back, regained its lost territories, and went on full offensive on its former invaders until the end of the war.
