Description[]
The Sdkfz 234 was a family of armoured cars that was designed as a successor to earlier eight-wheeled heavy reconnaissance armoured cars, namely the Sdkfz 231 and its derivatives. The designation "Sdkfz 234/1" refers to the version armed with a 2 cm KwK 38 L/55 autocannon and an MG 34 in an open-topped turret. Several variants existed, which included the Sdkfz 234/2 "Puma" armoured car, all of which served in the Eastern and Western Fronts from 1943 until the end of the war.
In BattleGroup42, the Sdkfz 234/1's autocannon and machine gun are useful against enemy infantry and light vehicles respectively, but not against tanks. As it is designed for reconnaissance, the vehicle is only protected against small arms fire, therefore it should use its weapons for self-defence rather than for prolonged engagements.
