For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on Panhard 178.

The Panhard 178 is a French armoured car.

Description

Being one of the most advanced armoured vehicle designs in 1940, the Panhard 178 first saw action with the expeditionary troops that have been send to Narvik to aid the Norwegian resistance against the german invasion. It proved to be an excellent reconnaissance vehicle and also fought effectively against light german tanks during the Battle for France: Well protected with up to 20mm sloped frontal armor, the Panhards powerul 25mm SA 35 cannon could easily penetrate the armor of the Panzer I and Panzer II, and even the early Panzer IV were vulnerable from the sides. No wonder the German army used a lot of captured Panhards later on under the designation "Panzerspähwagen P204 (f)" at the Eastern Front. Panhards fought also in the French colonies, and improved versions served with several armies up to 1960's.

Like the real vehicle, the Panhard 178 in Battlegroup42 also has a coaxial 8mm Hotchkiss machine gun. The armoured car is adequate against infantry and lightly armoured vehicles. It also has very good speed, and is capable of outmaneuvering its enemies.
