M18 Hellcat is an American tank destroyer.
The Hellcat is designed specifically as a tank destroyer, rather than being a tank destroyer variant of another existing vehicle. It is smaller and faster than many other armoured vehicles available in the American arsenal, but it is also very lightly armoured, making it somewhat fragile in a direct engagement. It shares the the 76mm M1 gun as the Sherman 76 mm models, which has respectable anti-tank capability. For self-defense against infantry, the M18 has an M2 Browning machine gun located on top of the gun turret.
Speed is the Hellcat's forte. One should use it to ambush unsuspecting enemy tanks, and maintain mobility in heated engagements.
The M18 appears in Italian and European theatres from 1943 onwards.
