The Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk III is a rifle of British origin.

DescriptionEdit

The Lee-Enfield was the standard British service rifle for the first half of the twentieth century. Its name consists of the rifle's bolt system designer James Paris Lee and the location of the factory respectively. Various models have been developed over the years, with the Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk III being the most iconic as it was used in large numbers for both World Wars.

Formerly known as Short Magazine Lee–Enfield Mk III, the rifle was renamed to Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk III in 1926, with the older Lee-Enfield rifles regarded as obsolete. It saw extensive service in the Commonwealth forces, with Australia and India retaining and manufacturing it as their service rifle while the newer Lee-Enfield No.4 was produced primarily for the United Kingdom.

In Battlegroup42 the Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk III is the primary weapon for the Australian rifleman class and sniper class. The rifleman class also has access to bayonet and rifle grenade, whereas the sniper class has scope attached to the rifle for sharpshooting.
