The Sdkfz 234 was a family of armoured cars that was designed as a successor to earlier eight-wheeled heavy reconnaissance armoured cars, namely the Sdkfz 231 and its derivatives. The designation "Sdkfz 234/2" refers to the version armed with a 5 cm KwK 39/1 L/50 gun and a coaxial MG 34 in an enclosed turret, and it is often known as the "Puma". Several variants existed, including the Sdkfz 234/1, all of which served in the Eastern and Western Fronts from 1943 until the end of the war.
In BattleGroup42, the Sdkfz 234/2's 50mm gun has potent anti-tank capability for an armoured car, but it should be used in ambush and self-defence, as the armoured car is thinly armoured. The second crewman has access to periscope for artillery spotting as well as smoke dischargers for smokescreen. Overall the Puma boasts great speed for its size and firepower, making it a useful vehicle for reconnaissance.
