For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on Panhard 178.

The Panhard 178 is a French armoured car.

Description[]

One of the most advanced armoured vehicle designs in 1940s, the Panhard 178 first saw action with the French expeditionary troops sent to Narvik to aid the Norwegian resistance against the German invasion, and later in Battle of France. It proved not only to be an excellent reconnaissance vehicle, but it also fought effectively against light German tanks; it was relatively well protected for an armoured car with sloped frontal armor up to 26mm thick, and its 25mm SA 35 cannon could easily penetrate the armor of the Panzer I and Panzer II, as well as early Panzer IVs from the sides. The vehicles' performance impressed the German army, who captured a lot of the vehicles for their own use under the designation "Panzerspähwagen P204 (f)" on the Eastern Front. The Panhards also had several minor variations and modifications, including colonial and improved postwar versions, with the latter seeing service as late as 1960.

The Panhard 178 in BattleGroup42 is armed with a 25mm SA 35 gun and a coaxial 8mm Hotchkiss machine gun, which are adequate against other lightly armoured vehicles and infantry. Despite its relatively thin armour, the vehicle excels in mobility and speed, and is capable of outmanoeuvring its enemies with ease.

It can be found in a number of maps set since mid-1940. It is also seen in use by Axis forces, with examples seen in maps such as 4106-The Mad Mile and 4312-Commandos.
