For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on 8.8 cm Pak 43.

8.8cm PaK 43 is a German anti-tank gun.

Description[]

The PaK 43 was developed by Krupp to compete with Rheinmetall's famous 88mm gun and saw service from mid 1943 on, especially at the Eastern Front. Its exceptional performance made it able to penetrate any Allied tanks to see service during the war, even at long range. Similar to its Allied counterpart, the Ordnance QF 17-pounder, the large gun was very heavy and difficult to move quickly from one position to another. To give it greater mobility, the Germans mounted the gun on a variety of tracked chassis, creating powerful tank destroyers and self propelled guns like the Nashorn, the Elefant and the Jagdpanther.

In BattleGroup42 the gun is represented by the PaK 43/41, a two-wheel split-trail carriage version of the original PaK 43 that is faster and cheaper to manufacture.
