For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on Curtiss P-40 Warhawk.

Curtiss P-40 Warhawk is an American fighter.

Description[]

The P-40 Warhawk was the third most produced American fighter after P-51 and P-47, and it was used widely in theatres such as North Africa, South-west Pacific, and China, where it could tolerate various harsh climates and that performance at high altitude was not of great importance. The Americans refer the fighter as Warhawk for all models, whereas the British use the name Tomahawk for early models, and Kittyhawk for later variants.

The P-40C is equipped with four M1919 machine guns on the wings and two M2 Browning machine guns on the nose, whereas the later P-40E version is equipped with six M2 Browning machine guns on the wings. Both models have a pure fighter and a fighter-bomber variant, of which the latter are also equipped with an AN-M57 bomb beneath the fuselage.

Examples can be found on 4112-Flying Tigers, 4204-Fall of Bataan, 4302-Faid Pass, 4304-Final at Bizerte, and 4403-Operation Ugo.
