For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on North American P-51 Mustang.

North American P-51 Mustang is an American fighter and fighter-bomber.

Description[]

Having great speed, maneuverability, and heavy armament (six M2 Browning machine guns) for a fighter, the P-51 Mustang is a force to be reckoned with. It was not only one of the most famous planes of World War 2, but also one of the best fighter designs. Performing well also in low altitude as a fighter-bomber, its supreme role was to be a long range escort fighter at high altitudes.

The model in BattleGroup42 represents the most numerous Mustang variant, the P-51D, which entered service in mid 1944 and could easily identified by its typical "bubble" style cockpit canopy. There are 3 variants of the Mustang in the mod: one as a pure fighter, one equipped with bombs, and one equipped with rockets.

It can be found in the European theatre from mid-1944 such as Bocage, and also in the Pacific theatre on 4503-Tokyo Air Raid.

Trivia[]

  • The previous model is a modified version from the original Battlefield 1942's counterpart.
  • The Mustang model is made by Clive Williams (aka clivewil) for the Battlefield 2 mod Allied Intent Xtended, and is ported to BattleGroup42 mod with the modeller's permission.
  • Due to lack of proper render for earlier variants of Mustangs, the P-51D serves as a placeholder for pre-mid 1944 maps such as 4309-Aces over Italy.
