Obice da 75/13 is a mountain gun of Austro-Hungarian origin.
Description[]
A World War I-era mountain gun from Austria-Hungary originally known as the Skoda 75mm Model 15, the weapon was designated as the Obice da 75/13 in Italy, and is used until the end of World War II. During and after the Great War, Italy captured large numbers of these guns or received them as reparations. They were distributed among the Italian mountain divisions and, despite slightly heavier than its Italian counterpart, were well received because of their superior ballistics. Since the Obice da 75/13 had shown its usefulness as mountain artillery and even as field artillery, it was decided to reproduce the gun in 1933 during the reorganization of Italian artillery. In parallel, development of a successor was started, but progress was slow. When World War 2 broke out, still many hundreds of the Obice da 75/13 were in service. They fought with the Italian troops in their homeland, in Africa, the Balkans and even in Russia. Despite its slow muzzle velocity of less than 400 m/sec, it had also limited anti-tank capability thanks to its "effeto pronto" (shaped charge) ammunition.
In Battlegroup42, the Obice da 75/13 serves as the main light field artillery of the Italian army. It can be found on most maps with the Italian faction.
