For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on Macchi C.202.

The Macchi C.202 is an Italian fighter.

Description[]

A successor to the C.200 Saetta, the Macchi C.202 Folgore entered front line service with the Regia Aeronautica in mid-1941. The fighter offered great speed and maneuverability, making it regarded as one of the best dogfighters of its time. The only downside was its weak armament, consisting of two wing-mounted 7.7mm and two nose-mounted 12.7mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns. Compared with other contemporary fighters this was not particularly powerful.

Nevertheless, the C.202 proved to be a successful design in the air battles over Africa and the Mediterranean Sea. To solve the armament problem, it was followed by its successor, the Macchi C.205 Veltro, in mid-1943.
