For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on Panzer VIII Maus.

Maus is a German super-heavy tank.

Description[]

The Panzerkampfwagen VIII, better known as the "Maus", was intended as a successor of the Tiger II, driving the super-heavy tank concept to its extend. The vehicle sported excessive protection and armament for the sake of mobility. It is to be doubted that it would have been of significant tactical worth if fielded. When the war ended, only a few prototypes (one fully operational) exists, which have been captured by the Soviet army at the Kummersdorf proving ground. The Maus is equipped with a 128mm PaK 44 L/55 gun and a coaxial 75mm KwK 44 L/36.5 gun, which give the tank tremendous anti-tank firepower. The 128mm is not only deadly against enemy tanks, but also to infantry thanks to the shells' area of impact. The Maus also has very thick armour, allowing the tank the withstand a lot of punishment from the enemy before going down.

One downside is that the tank is very slow, and also turns very slowly. This makes the Maus susceptible to being outmaneuvered and attacked from the sides or the back. While historically inaccurate, it also lacks a machine gun due to game engine restrictions. Therefore it has to rely on other friendly troops and vehicles to protect it from enemy infantry in close range.

The Maus makes its sole appearance in 4504-Mouse Roars, where two of such tanks are available in the map.
