Canon de 75 modèle 1897 is a French anti-tank gun.

Also known under several names, the Canon de 75 modèle 1897 was widely regarded as the first modern artillery piece. Developed before World War I, it was the first field gun to include a hydro-pneumatic recoil mechanism, which kept the gun's trail and wheels perfectly still during the firing sequence. This removes the need to re-aim the gun and increases firing rate.
The field gun was used extensively in World War I by the French army, and were also adopted by other nations shortly before and after the end of the war. By the start of World War II, the gun was still in service despite its age. In BattleGroup42, the Canon de 75 modèle 1897 is the primary anti-tank gun fielded by France and the United States for maps set in the early stages of the war.
The gun was modernized and also mounted in the American M3 Gun Motor Carriage as a tank destroyer.
