For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on Landing Craft Mechanized.

The Landing Craft Mechanized is an American landing craft.

Description[]

During World War II, several types of landing craft mechanized (also known as LCM) were in use by the Allied Forces, which had been built by different manufacturers from the United Kingdom and the United States. In fact, it was the British, the inventors of tank warfare, who came up with the idea of a landing vehicle capable of carrying a tank in the 1920s, and they developed and manufactured the first of its kind: the Motor Landing Craft, or MLC in short. This became the predecessor of subsequent LCM designs.

The LCM in BattleGroup42 is depicted by the Mark 3, an American design built by Higgins Industries, which was more well known for the smaller LCVP. The landing craft was 15 metres long, and was capable of carrying 60 troops or a 30-ton tank or a corresponding amount of cargo.

Unlike most other landing craft in the mod, the LCM spawns independently from the warships, and it also serves as a mobile spawn point. The helmsman steers the boat and controls the bow ramp, and there are two gunner positions with one M2 Browning machine gun each for self-defence. The LCM in conquest mode features three positions with a Willys MB on board, whereas the one in co-op mode holds six positions without any vehicles, similar to the LCVP.

It can be found in a number of maps, such as 4004-Narvik and 4208-Gavutu Islands.
