KV-1 is a Soviet heavy tank.

Description[]

Named after the Soviet defense commissar and politician Kliment Voroshilov, the KV-1 is a Soviet heavy tank seen in the early part of the war. Its thick armour is the tank's main feature, as the tanks available early in the war lack powerful armaments to counter it, but the availability of better weapons later in the war negates its advantage.

The KV-1's main armament is the 76.2mm ZIS-5 gun, which is a modified version of the F34 gun used in T-34 tanks. It is also armed with three DT machine guns: one in the coaxial mount, one at front of the hull, and one at the back of the turret. The Model 1940 had a welded turret while the Model 1942 with cast one.

Finally, the KV-1S is a variant built with thinner armour for the return of better speed. It also has a smaller cast turret that makes its silhouette less prominent than its main variant.

The Model 1940 version appears in maps up to late 1942, and the Model 1942 version is available from early 1942. The KV-1S is available in maps set between 1942 and 1944.

Trivia[]

  • The KV-1 has three other variants in the mod: the KV-2 armed with the powerful 152mm M-10T howitzer, the flamethrower tank KV-8, and the KV-85 armed with the 85mm D-5T gun.
  • The KV-1 Model 1942's in-game name was KV-1C.
  • Prior to the release of FINAL Release Candidate 4, there is a KV-1 Model 1941 with a cast turret and an additional DT machine gun on the fourth position. But due to age of the model, it was later removed in favour of KV-1 Model 1942.
