For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on Junkers Ju 87.

Junkers Ju 87 is a German dive bomber and ground attack aircraft.

Description[]

Commonly known as the "Stuka", the Ju 87 is easily recognisable by its inverted gull wings and fixed undercarriages. The common B variant is armed with a large SC 1000 bomb beneath the fuselage for dive bombing, and two forward firing MG 17 machine guns for strafing. The Ju 87 G anti-tank version is armed with two 37mm BK 37 Bordkanone guns beneath its wings instead of the bomb and one MG 17 on its right wing, while retaining the forward firing machine guns.

Like most dive bombers, it is not maneuverable, hence it is vulnerable to fighters. For self-defense, a MG 15 is installed at the back of the cockpit for the rear gunner to fend off pursuing enemy aircraft. The G variant has two MG 15 machine guns instead.

The dive bomber version serves throughout the war on multiple fronts, whereas the dedicated anti-tank version appears in smaller numbers around 1943. Italy and Hungary also received a small number of Stukas from Germany.

Trivia[]

The previous model is a modified version from the original Battlefield 1942's counterpart.
