For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on List of Type 97 Chi-Ha variants.

Chi-Ha 120mm SP is a Japanese Type 97 Shinhoto Chi-Ha with a 120mm naval gun.

Description[]

By replacing the 47mm Type 1 tank gun with a 120mm naval short gun, the Chi-Ha 120mm SP is a force to be reckoned with. The 120mm gun fires high explosive shells with huge area of impact, and is very deadly to infantry. It can also deal great amount of damage to enemy armour units, giving it the much needed firepower that older Japanese tanks lacked. Similar to the Type 97 Chi-Ha Shinhoto, the Chi-Ha 120mm SP has a 7.7mm Type 97 machine gun on the front of the hull, but the one at the back of the turret is removed to make way for the 120mm gun.

While its firepower has been greatly improved, the armour of Chi-Ha 120mm SP is the same as the Type 97 Chi-Ha Shinhoto that it is based on, therefore it is still very vulnerable to enemy tank guns and Bazookas.

Due to the lack of information, it is unknown if the Chi-Ha 120mm SP was used in combat. Under artistic license it is assumed to have seen in combat against American forces late in the war. In Battlegroup42 it can be found in maps such as 4505-Shuri Line, 4508-Yamashita Treasure, and Iwo Jima.
