For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on Avro Lancaster.

Avro Lancaster is a British heavy bomber.

Description[]

The Lancaster, nicknamed the "Lanc" by its crews, appeared in the skies in March 1942 and was the most advanced British bomber design of its time. It was also the most versatile and powerful of all four-engine long range bombers, capable to carry up to ten tons of bomb load (usually 6.5 - 8 tons). During the course of war, it became also the most popular and most numerous British four-engine bomber, playing a significant role in the bomber offensive of the Royal Air Force against German cities. Apart from the RAF, Lancasters were operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force.

In BattleGroup42, the Lancaster can drop up to fourteen bombs in one bombing run. For self-defense it is equipped with eight Browning 0.303 machine guns in three turrets.

It makes a prominent appearance in 4207-Intruder Mission. A special version armed with a Tallboy earthquake bomb can be found in 4407-Operation Crossbow.
