Wake Island is a map set on Wake Island in the Pacific Ocean. It is fought between United States and Japan.
Description[]
There are five control points in this map, all of which are under American control in the beginning.
Whichever side holds all five control points will incur a ticket bleed to the opposite side.
The Japanese start off with light cruiser Yubari and aircraft carrier Hiryu for the assault. In Conquest mode there is also a Kagero-class destroyer and a freighter to assist the Japanese, whereas the Americans have a Gato-class submarine in the north-east to counter the Japanese naval elements.
While infantry is important to take and defend control points in this map, aircraft also take a major role for both sides, as they can provide valuable air strikes against enemy ground forces, while impeding the opponents to do the same.
Trivia[]
- This is a remake of Wake Island.
- The static commercial flying boat Sikorsky S-42 "Brazilian Clipper" (serial number NC822M) is a placeholder for the Martin M-130 "Philippine Clipper" (serial number NC14715), which was present during the Japanese attack on Wake Island.
- Watch out for sharks in the water!
