For historical information, Wikipedia has an article on F1 grenade (France).

The F1 Grenade is a French high explosive hand grenade.

Description[]

With 60 million examples produced from 1915 on, the French F1 hand grenade was one of the most successful and most widely used hand grenades of all time and saw service with many armies in almost every conflict during the first half of the 20th century. It has a time fuse in a typical egg-shaped steel body with external grooves, along which the fragmentation happens. They also make the grenade less slippery under bad weather conditions. Because of its large fragmentation radius (some fragments went up to 100 meters in open terrain), the grenade should be used from cover. The F1 grenade was the basic model for the Russian F1 grenade and the American Mk 2 grenade, which both also were widely used in World War 2 and afterwards.

In Battlegroup42, the F1 grenade is the standard hand grenade of the scout, assault, anti-tank, medic, machinegunner and rifleman classes of the Soviet, French and the Greek Army.
