Cromwell is a British tank.
The Cromwell is the successor of the Crusader tank in the cruiser tank series. It combines respectable firepower, speed, and armour in one balanced design, and it forms the basis of the Comet I tank.
Its main gun, the Ordnance QF 75 mm, is a modified version of the earlier 6-pounder gun to adapt the ammunition used by American medium tanks. While not very effective against the armour of enemy heavy tanks, it is still sufficient against other contemporary targets. For secondary armament the Cromwell is armed with a Besa machine gun in the coaxial mount and another in the front of the hull.
It appears in the Europrean theatre from June 1944 onwards.
The Cromwell has a related vehicle armed with a 95mm howitzer in the form of Centaur IV.
