The Colt M1911 Automatic Pistol is an American pistol.
The Colt M1911 was designed by John Browning prior to World War 1 and became the most popular pistol of the 20th century. Its operating system makes it compact, durable and reliable and its .45 APC (11,43×23 mm) cartridge gives it a strong stopping power. No wonder that it was was widely copied all around the world. The pistol was used by the US forces as a standard sidearm from 1911 to 1986, and still many examples are in use with some units. It was also adopted by many other armies.
In Battlegroup42 the Colt M1911 was used as a sidearm for all US and US Marine classes except the engineer, anti-tank, officer and medic classes.
