Australia is one of the Allies of World War Two.
As a dominion of the British Commonwealth, Australia declared war on the Axis nations. On one hand, it assisted Britain as part of the British Commonwealth's war effort, where the troops fought in Europe, North Africa, as well as the Middle East.
On the other hand, Australia was a major player in the Pacific theatre, where it fought to resist Japan's expansion. Suffering setbacks at first, the military eventually regrouped and, together with other Allied nations, swung onto the offensive, where they continued to be so until the end of the war.
